The Fundamentals Course

What it Covers

    • Theoretical and common practical endgames
    • Classical chess games. Mainly world championship matches
    • History of chess
  • No openings

Designed For

    • Players who are dedicated to chess and plan to be professionals
    • Players who consistently play rated chess events.
  • Frequent participation in tournaments is required to maintain eligibility in the Fundamentals Course

Class Times

    • Thursdays 5:30PM – 9:30PM (Higher-rated section)  
    • Sundays 1:00PM – 5PM (Lower-rated section)

Duration of Course

  • 14 weeks 
  • 28 weeks 

Each course will have 6 weeks of make-up sessions built into the length of the course. Makeup sessions may be attended by all enrolled students regardless of whether they missed classes or not. Makeup sessions will cover same topics but will use different examples. This ensures that no student repeats same material twice.

Enrollment and Eligibility

    • Fundamentals program does not offer open enrollment
    • Students must be eight (8) years or older. Minimum USCF rating 1200+. Exceptions can be made for lower rated players ONLY if they can demonstrate that their skills are comparable to those who have USCF of 1200. In this case they will be given two (2) months to participate in events and attain 1200 USCF. Students who fail to meet these conditions will be immediately terminated from the program. NO EXCEPTIONS!
    • All students must maintain 1200 USCF
    • Those who fall below 1200 will be given one (1) month to raise it back to the initial level. This ensures that no student in the program is far behind others. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule!
    • Students will be asked to fill out multiple forms in order to apply. After the initial screening the coach will decide which applications to advance and students will be called for assessment meetings.
    • Applicants must demonstrate mastery in completing moderate level chess assignments. Only two (2) groups will be formed. Maximum of ten (10) players per group 
  • Enrollment Fee
      • 14-week program – $3000
      • 28-week program – $5500
    • There will be a six (6) week makeup session after each program!
